Janus Henderson Global Dividend Index
The Janus Henderson Global Dividend Index (JHGDI) was created as a long-term study of global dividend trends, analyzing dividends paid each quarter by the 1,200 largest firms by market capitalization, with the objective of contextualizing equity income investing. It measures the progress global firms are making in paying their investors an income on their capital, using 2009 as a base year. View the video below for highlights from the latest report.
- Dividends surged 14.5% to $328.1bn, the fastest headline growth rate in three years, a record for Q3.
- Underlying growth was 8.4%, the highest level in almost two years, with every region seeing an increase.
- Forecast for 2017 upgraded to a record $1.249trn, up 7.4% in headline terms and 7.3% in underlying terms.
